The InspireIgnite Leaving Care Programme supports care home staff/foster carers, parents, and managers who want to develop their own thinking and try new innovative techniques with the young people in their care who are readying themselves to leave. We train your staff to deliver the programme to the young people, so no new faces for the young people to have to be involved with at this critical time.
Using the 8 Leaving Care Skills to give structure to these programmes InspireIgnite lead the facilitator through the young person’s Leaving Care Passport (workbook), using discussion, worksheets and activities to engage them in the work of developing a robust sense of self. Mindfulness is introduced as an integral part of this programme.
The 8 Leaving Care Passport Skills are;
- Education, Training or Employment
- Application of numeracy
- Application of digital technologies
- Development of self-confidence
All young people are capable of extraordinary things, given the support to develop their sense of identity. InspireIgnite’s programme is designed to nurture their interest in self-confidence and self-esteem. By developing a sense of self young people learn about leaving care in a planned and supportive way.
There is not a gene that provides happiness or success, we all have the potential for happiness and success and by supporting care leavers to find this within themselves is the key to unlocking their world. We all face challenges within our lives and waiting for the challenge to happen doesn’t equip us with the tools to be resilient. Instilling resilience is vital, through our programme this is possible.
