Mindfulness is a very simple form of meditation. The Focus Ten mindfulness approach is adapted to meet the identified needs of the learners we are working with, making it age/ability appropriate.
Being able to regulate our breathing is the most important aspect of developing a clear and focused mind. This short CD teaches the listener the steps in mindfulness to be able to gradually draw attention to breathing and relax tension. The narrator uses child-friendly language to introduce mindfulness in a non-threatening way. Using specifically chosen techniques to enable children to enjoy the benefits of mindfulness.
Practice makes perfect.
If practiced daily mindfulness can help children regulate their emotions and focus on the moment and calm their anxieties and raw emotions. Being able to have clarity enables children to reduce anxiety and become calm in a natural way. InspireIgnite use mindfulness in all work with clients and with pupils within schools and some of the feedback includes;
‘Focus10 really helps me when I feel angry’
‘That mindfulness thing has really helped me with calming down’
‘I do Focus10 every morning with my nana and we really enjoy it, it helps us walk to school’
Helping young people develop this as part of their holistic emotional wellbeing toolbox gives them a skill for life.
